On July 8th, 2011 USA launched Atlantis to end the NASA Space Shuttle Program. I decided to paint this work, to remember the important event. Atlantis' final flight capped off an amazing 30-year program of exploration, which launched great observatories, built an International Space Station, and taught us how humans can live, work and thrive in space.
